Walkerville farm: 770 m of electric fence in two zones

770 m of electric fence around a farm property in Walkerville. Six strands on the walls and twelve strands on tall galvanised omega brackets, run in two zones and armed by remote.

Where: Walkerville · Site: Farm · Done: Oct 2023

A 770 m boundary on four sides needed one fence the owner could arm by remote

The boundary mixes walls with sections that needed taller protection. With that much fence, the owner needed to know which part had a fault, and to arm it without walking to the energiser.

We used the right bracket for each section and split the fence into two zones

  • Fitted 6-strand flat-bar brackets along the walls, earthed every 30 m.
  • Put up 18-line galvanised omega brackets carrying 12 strands on four sides.
  • Installed a 2-zone, 8-joule energiser, with HT cable in conduit from the energiser to the fence and under the gate.
  • Fitted two heavy-duty gate contacts and two dual lightning diverters.
  • Added a siren and two strobes.
  • Installed a long-range receiver with two remotes and two fence indicator lights.

770 m in two zones, armed and disarmed by remote

The indicator lights show at a glance whether the fence is armed, and each zone alarms on its own, so a fault is found faster.
