Gate motor repairs in the Midvaal and Joburg South

Gate stuck, beeping or ignoring the remote? We repair sliding and swing gate motors, and the gate itself when that’s the problem.

A gate that won’t work leaves you stuck in the driveway

  • It’s stuck open, or won’t close all the way.
  • It beeps and won’t move, or just clicks.
  • The remote does nothing.
  • It died after a power cut or a storm.

We find what’s wrong and fix it, often on the first visit

  • Batteries and chargers tested and replaced.
  • Remotes recoded or replaced, receivers repaired.
  • Controller boards repaired or replaced after lightning.
  • Wheels, rollers, track and rack fixed, so the motor isn’t fighting the gate.

Gate stuck right now?

Send a video, get an answer, then a price before we fix anything

  1. WhatsApp a short video of the gate trying to move, sound on, with your suburb.
  2. We find the fault and quote. Nothing is fixed until you say yes.
  3. We fix it and test it on mains and on battery, open and close, with every remote.

One call-out fee, then a fixed price for the fix

  • The promise: we never go over a quote without your OK.
  • Warranty: the Consumer Protection Act’s 3 months on parts and labour.

Send a video and we’ll tell you what it probably is.

Five safe checks while you wait

  1. Open it by hand. Use the manual release (a key or lever on the motor). Lock it again afterwards.
  2. Power: is the isolator on? After a long power cut, the battery may need a few hours on mains.
  3. Remote: try a spare remote or the intercom. If the spare works, it’s the remote’s battery.
  4. Track: a stone, branch or sagging wheel makes the motor stop and reverse.
  5. Safety beams: make sure nothing blocks them and they’re still lined up.

Keep hands away from the rack and wheels while the motor is engaged.

About the beeps: each make beeps or flashes its own pattern. Check your manual’s fault table, or send us a video with the sound on.

A tired battery is one of the most common reasons a gate stops

Most modern gate motors run off their battery, and the mains keeps it charged. That’s why they work through power cuts. Long outages and age wear the battery out. When the gate slows, stops halfway or dies a few hours into a cut, we load-test the battery and replace it if it’s failing.

We’ll only suggest a new motor when it makes sense

  • the motor is old and parts are gone
  • the controller has taken lightning more than once
  • the gate is too heavy for the motor it has
  • you want phone control or a faster open the old motor can’t do

You get both options in writing, with prices.

Gate motor installation

We fix the gate, the remotes and the phone control too

  • The gate: wheels, rollers, track, rack and anti-lift brackets.
  • Remotes and intercoms: supplied, coded and repaired.
  • GSM and 4G: gate openers on 2G or 3G stop working when those networks switch off (the national target is the end of 2027).

Questions

Questions people ask us

Why is my gate motor not working?

Very often it’s the battery. A flat or worn-out battery is one of the most common reasons a gate stops, especially after a power cut. Other usual causes are a remote with a flat battery, something in the track, a blocked safety beam, or a blown fuse. Release the motor and move the gate by hand, then send us a video.

Why is my gate motor beeping?

It’s telling you about a fault, such as a low battery, no mains power, an obstruction or a beam problem. Each make has its own beep pattern, listed in the manual. Send us a video with the sound on and we’ll tell you what it means.

How long does a gate motor battery last?

A few years, depending on how often the gate runs and how many long power cuts it goes through.

Why did my gate motor stop working after a power outage?

Usually the battery ran flat during the outage and hasn’t recharged yet, or a surge when the power came back damaged the charger or controller. Leave it on mains for a few hours. If it still won’t work, the battery or the controller needs testing.
