A farm security system in Eikenhof, built in stages: an Ajax wireless outdoor alarm, auto-tracking colour PTZ cameras and a thermal camera on 4 m posts, all linked by wireless bridges, with the farm's five electric fence energisers reporting to the same app.
Where: Eikenhof · Site: Farm · Done: Jun 2025
The farm's homes and gates are spread out, too far apart to cable
Several homes share the property, with open ground between them. The owner wanted to see the whole farm, be warned early, and hear about electric fence alarms on the phone.
We built it in stages, linking every camera point back by wireless bridge
- Installed an Ajax Hub 2 with outdoor dual-curtain and motion detectors on posts, street sirens, panic buttons and remotes; added more zones, repeaters and alarm relays in a second stage.
- Put up 4 m camera posts with colour PTZ dome cameras that patrol and track automatically, plus a large PTZ dome out in the field.
- Added a thermal bi-spectrum camera and fixed IP cameras.
- Linked the camera points with point-to-point wireless bridges, post-mount junction boxes and surge arrestors, back to a 16-channel NVR, with an LTE router for remote viewing.
- Fitted Ajax transmitters to all five fence energisers, so fence alarms come through the Ajax app.
- Installed a Centurion D5 Evo Smart at the gate with an anti-tamper bracket and an Ajax tamper transmitter.

Alarm, cameras and all five fences report to the owner's phone
The farm is watched from posts across the property, and every alarm, including the electric fences, comes through one app. When lightning later took out switches and power supplies, we replaced them and had the cameras back up.
