A slow or unreliable gate is where you’re most exposed
- You wait in the driveway while the gate crawls open.
- The motor is old, dies in power cuts, or struggles with the gate.
- You want to open it from your phone, or see who’s there.
The right motor for your gate, fitted so it lasts
- Matched to the gate: rated for its weight with room to spare, and for how often it opens.
- Battery backup: it keeps working through power cuts.

How we choose a motor: the gate decides, not the brand
- Weight and length: a motor working at its limit wears out early. We check the maker’s rating against your gate.
- How often it opens: a home gate might open 20 times a day; an estate gate, hundreds.
- Sliding or swing: sliding uses a motor and rack on the ground; swing uses an arm per leaf.
- Smart setup: motors like the Centurion D5 Evo Smart are set up and diagnosed from a phone with the MyCentsys Pro app.
Fitted properly, so it doesn’t strip, jump or stop short
- A level base plate set in concrete.
- The rack lined up with the pinion.
- End stops and limits set so it stops in the same place every time.
- The cable in conduit, the motor earthed and surge-protected.
- Remotes coded and tested; the manual release shown to you.
Questions about your gate?
The battery keeps the gate going in a power cut, so we size it properly
Most modern motors run off the battery, and the mains keeps it charged. We test batteries on every service.

Remotes, intercoms and access control that work with the motor
We code remotes, fit keypads and intercoms, and link the motor to access control for estates and businesses. GSM units and intercoms on 2G or 3G stop working when those networks switch off (the national target is the end of 2027); we swap them for 4G.
A gate that drags wears out the best motor, so we check it first
Wheels, track, guide rollers and anti-lift brackets: we fix what’s needed before the motor goes on.
Questions
Questions people ask us
Which gate motor is best for my gate?
The one that’s rated for your gate’s weight with room to spare, and for how often it opens. A light home gate and a busy estate gate need very different motors. Send us a photo and the rough width and we’ll recommend one.
What’s the difference between the Centurion D5 and the D10?
Both are sliding gate motors from Centurion. The D10 is built for heavier gates, and the D10 Turbo is faster.
Will my gate motor work when the power is off?
Yes. Most modern motors run off a backup battery that the mains keeps charged, so they keep working through power cuts.
Can you put a motor on my existing gate?
Usually, yes. If the gate slides or swings freely and is in decent shape, we fit a motor to it. If the wheels, track or hinges are worn, we fix those first, because a dragging gate kills motors.
Can I open my gate with my phone?
Yes. A 4G GSM unit lets you open the gate from an app anywhere, and get alerts when it opens.
