Farm and smallholding electric fencing in the Midvaal

Freestanding electric fences for plots and farms, split into zones so you know where the fault is, and built for Highveld storms.

Since 1995 · From Walkerville, in smallholding country

A long boundary is hard to secure and harder to keep working

  • Kilometres of fence, and no idea where the fault is when it drops.
  • Lightning takes out the energiser every summer.
  • No mains power along the far boundary.
  • Stock or dogs getting out, people getting in.

A fence split into zones, sized for the distance and protected from lightning

  • Zones: the energiser tells you which stretch to check.
  • The right energiser: sized to the total length of live wire, with spare capacity.
  • Earthing for dry ground, tested before we leave.
  • Alerts on your phone, so you know before you walk the line.

Send your boundary, we walk it, you get a plan and a price

  1. Send your boundary: a location pin or Google Maps outline on WhatsApp, and what the fence must keep in or out.
  2. We build, test and hand over, and show you how to read the energiser and find a fault.

What moves the price: height and strands; new or electrifying an existing fence; rock, slopes and river crossings; gates and zones; mains or solar; phone alerts.

Smallholdings, livestock farms and farm yards

  • Secure the perimeter, keep dogs and livestock in.
  • Livestock farms: electrified strands on new or existing fences.
  • Game farms and camps: electrified game fences, new or on your existing fence, to the height and strand layout your game and your permit need.
  • Farm buildings and yards: a high-security fence around the house, workshop or fuel store.

Freestanding fences, electrified farm fences and the energiser to drive them

  • Electrifying an existing fence: offset brackets carry live strands in front of your wire or mesh fence. Cheaper than a new fence.
  • Energisers: a farm unit for livestock; a Nemtek security energiser with alarm outputs for security fences. A 2 km boundary with 6 live strands is 12 km of wire, so we size for that.
  • Gates: insulated handles or underground cables carry the current across. Motorised gates can be added. → Gate motors

Know when something’s wrong before you walk the line

  • An alarm output to your farm alarm or your armed response company’s radio.

2G and 3G are being switched off (the national target is the end of 2027). Old 2G or 3G alert units need moving to 4G.

Questions

Questions people ask us

What energiser do I need for a long farm fence?

One sized for the total length of live wire, not just the boundary length, with spare capacity for wet grass and growth. A 2 km boundary with 6 live strands is 12 km of wire. We work it out from your boundary and recommend a model on the quote.

Can an electric fence run on solar power?

Yes. A solar panel charges a battery, and the battery runs the energiser day and night.

How do I find a fault on a long electric fence?

Zones make it easy: the energiser tells you which zone has dropped, so you only walk that stretch. A handheld fault finder then points you along the line to the spot. We split long fences into zones for exactly this reason.

Do you install game fencing?

Yes. We build electrified game fences and electrify existing game fences, to the height and strand layout your game and your permit need.
