Meyerton property: 8-strand electric fence with solar power and phone alerts

A new 8-strand electric fence on the wall, split into two zones, running off a solar panel and battery. Fence alarms go to the owner's phone, and we issued the electric fence certificate when it was done.

Where: Meyerton · Site: Property · Done: Dec 2025

The owner wanted the whole wall electrified, three gates included, with alarms on the phone

Three gates meant three places where the fence had to cross over or under. The owner also wanted to know straight away when the fence alarmed, not hear about it later.

We fenced the wall in two zones and took the power under all three gates

  • Fitted 8-strand square-tube brackets along the wall and strung the fence, earthed every 30 m.
  • Split the fence into two zones on a 2-zone, 8-joule energiser, fed with HT cable.
  • Ran HT cable under all three gates and fitted a heavy-duty gate contact on each one.
  • Put in an earth grid of three earth spikes and two dual lightning diverters.
  • Added a siren and two strobe lights.
  • Installed a 200 W solar panel, regulator and 100 Ah deep-cycle battery to power the fence.
  • Fitted an Olarm module, so the owner gets fence alarms on the phone and can arm and disarm from it.
  • Tested the fence and issued the electric fence certificate.
