Glenvista home: electric fence brought up to standard and certified

An existing electric fence at a Glenvista home, fixed and brought up to SANS 10222-3 so we could issue the electric fence certificate.

Where: Glenvista · Site: Home · Done: May 2026

To pass for a certificate, the fence needed more than a new energiser

The fence had a broken wire and dislodged brackets, the gaps between brackets were too wide, and the earthing, signs and gate contact were not up to the standard.

We fixed every point on the checklist, then tested and certified it

  • Installed a Wizard 4 energiser with a dual lightning diverter.
  • Added four earth spikes with junction covers and an earth grid of three spikes.
  • Added brackets to bring the gaps down to 3 m, and eight stays at the tension points with stay sleeves.
  • Put up additional warning signs.
  • Repaired the broken wire and the dislodged brackets, and serviced the fence.
  • Ran the HT cable through the wall in conduit and fitted a heavy-duty gate contact.
  • Tested the fence and issued the electric fence certificate.
