Industrial and commercial electric fencing and maintenance in Joburg South, the East Rand and the Midvaal

We build electric fences for factories, warehouses and yards, then keep them working on a monthly maintenance contract, with a written report after every visit.

Since 1995 · Registered electric fence installer

A fence nobody checks fails quietly, and you find out after the break-in

  • “Zone 3 has been dead for weeks and nobody noticed.”
  • “The guards can’t tell which corner the alarm came from.”
  • “Head office and the insurer want proof the fence actually works.”
  • “Our old installer doesn’t answer the phone any more.”

We build it properly, then look after it every month

  • Built right: to SANS 10222-3, split into zones, linked to your alarm and control room, and certified by a registered installer.
  • Looked after: a scheduled visit that tests every zone, the earth, the alarms, the batteries and the gates.
  • On paper: a written report after every visit that you can file for your insurer or head office.

From site survey to your first monthly report in four steps

  1. Monthly contract. Visits and a written report from the first month.

A monthly visit, a written report, and nothing extra without your written OK

  • A voltage reading on every zone, logged so you can see a trend.
  • An earth test and a walk of the line: wires, insulators, vegetation.
  • Alarm tests on each zone (cut, short, earth), sirens and the link to your control room.
  • Battery and charger tests under load.
  • Gate contacts and gate motors, lightning diverters and warning signs.
  • Cameras and alarms too, if they’re on the contract.
  • Fault response: during office hours, Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00.
  • Price: per site, by length, zones and what’s covered.

New fences are priced per site after the survey.

The promise: the price we quote is the price you pay unless you approve a change in writing. Repairs carry the 3-month parts-and-labour warranty the Consumer Protection Act requires.

Every commercial fence we build is zoned, linked and built to SANS 10222-3

Fence types

  • Freestanding high-security fences for open boundaries and yards.
  • Electric fencing on top of walls, palisade and clear-view mesh, on brackets that lean inwards, never over a neighbour without consent.
  • Upgrades of old fences, often reusing the posts.

Zones and alerts

  • Each zone alarms on its own, so you know where to look.
  • Multi-zone energisers for long runs. We install and service Nemtek energisers.
  • No 2G gateways: 2G and 3G are being switched off, with a national target of the end of 2027.

Links to the rest of your security

  • The energiser alarms through your panel to your control room or armed response company by radio, GSM or IP. We install and link; we don’t provide armed response.
  • CCTV on gates and weak points, outdoor beams inside the line, and gate motors and access control at the entrances.

Power and lightning

  • Earth leads in conduit above ground, as the 2023 edition of SANS 10222-3 asks.

Compliance

  • First live wire at least 1.5 m above public ground, or behind a 1.5 m barrier. Low-voltage monitored bottom sections are one way to do it.
  • Yellow warning signs no more than 10 m apart, and at gates, access points and corners.
  • Energisers with a SANS 60335-2-76 test certificate. No electrified razor or barbed wire.
  • An electric fence certificate on every new install or alteration. It’s separate from your electrical wiring COC.

Long runs? Our guide to electric fence wire compares the options.

Long runs cost less per metre; zones, height and site rules add to it

  • Length and layout: corners, gates and changes in level add work.
  • Height and strands: more strands mean more wire, insulators and longer posts.
  • Zones: more energiser capacity and cabling, but faster fault-finding.
  • Ground: rocky or dry ground needs more earth spikes.
  • Site rules: inductions, permits and shutdown windows add time.
  • Integration and removal: linking to your alarm and cameras; taking down an old fence.

We work on factories, steel yards, warehouses and office parks

  • Factories and steel yards: long boundaries, stock and cable worth stealing.
  • Warehouses and logistics yards: truck gates that open all day.
  • Bigger jobs in Joburg North by arrangement.
  • Office and industrial parks: one certificate, one zone map and one report for the managing agent.

Questions

Questions people ask us

What does a commercial electric fence maintenance contract include?

A scheduled visit, usually monthly, that tests every zone, the earth, the alarms, the batteries and the gates, plus a written report with the readings and photos. Repairs beyond the contract are quoted and only done with your written OK.

Who can issue an electric fence certificate for a business?

Only an electric fence installer registered with the Department of Employment and Labour can issue it. An ordinary electrician can’t, unless they’re registered as an electric fence installer too. Ask for the registration number before you book.

How much does commercial electric fencing cost?

It depends on the site, so we quote after a survey, but per metre a long run costs less than a short one. Length, height, strand count, zones, gates, ground conditions and site rules all move the price. Our quotes are itemised, and we don’t go over them without your written OK.

Can the electric fence alert our control room or armed response?

Yes. The energiser’s alarm output connects to your alarm panel, which sends the signal to your control room or armed response company by radio, GSM or IP. Many energisers can also push alerts to a phone app.

Does an electric fence keep working during a power cut?

Yes, if it has a healthy battery backup. Batteries wear out faster when there are lots of outages, so we test them on every contract visit.
